Romancing the Sun!

Romancing the Sun! (... on the beaches of Vizag...)

Vivid images of a Rising Sun, the Red ball of fire, just emerging upon the horizon evoked such emotions, tears welled up my eyes this early morning. They still do now, as I recall that event (yes, I call that an event & not a scene). That profound feeling of complete satisfaction, of long lost lovers meeting after a long hiatus, of seeing a long planted seed germinating & sprouting a baby leaf out of the soil, of giving birth to a baby & holding it to heart the first time, of the first ever flower of a plant & its overpowering fragrance, just so many similes! Simply too much to put it to words!
I got completely drawn away by the awesome event, such a feeling of fullness & contentment, as if He was always there for me, but I ignored Him, His show & His presence.

The Sea, meanwhile, nonchalantly continued to ebb & flow, monotonously; wave after wave crashed against the rocks on the pristine beach. Early walkers busily went about their act; elsewhere members of a boisterous laughter club chattered, chanted and laughed with gay abandon & surpisingly - rhythm.

Earlier, I'd woken up at 4:30 am, got ready & rushed to a vantage point on the beach to catch the birth of the Sun for today. I found a vacant wrought iron bench & promptly plonked myself on it.

The sky was beginning to shed its stars & the darkness as the first rays broke out on the Horizon, as I readied for the spectacle. But it was very disappointing as a thick blanket of haze & surf blocked the view. Dejected, I took a few pictures of the serene surroundings while experimenting new settings on my digicam.

I was about to leave when, there he was, in all his glory. The red ball of fire emerged out of glistening waters of Bay of Bengal. Slowly but surely he traced his daily routine and before anyone could get bored of his gradual ascent, disappeared into the cloudy haze. No. He didn’t disappoint, I was impatient to see Him. It was my first, not His; is it his fault? He kept his date for 15 long minutes, I got carried away, like a new lover waiting for my partner.

I must have shot about 70~80 pictures of him before he vanished. Few of them are simply oow.

Unsatiated, I drove along the beach road, hoping to catch another glimpse before he could become searingly unbearable.

I rode my bike around chasing his rays, through the haze, which by then came on to the land. Some more of shots, of him from a couple of vantage points, of empty roads. A few random ones later, realised I rode quite far, enough that the fuel gauge hit red; ~20 odd kms, to Mathurawada IT-SEZ. Turned around, trudged homewards. I later realised that this was THE famous 30-km long Vizag-Bimili beach road.

Curious onlookers, joggers, walkers, et al, gave queer looks. Guess I'm not a rare specimen, 'coz its natural for eyes to see, ears to hear, tongues to wag & eye-brows to raise pointedly to a Sunrise-chaser.

So, that was my date with Him. The Giver, Provider, unquestioned. He just gives; it’s for us to take, however we can and want. The warmth, heat, light, seasons, the being.

Take judiciously, enjoy; Play around, get burnt!

Vizag is sometimes referred to as the Goa of the East coast, with about 130 kms of coastline. for some strange reason Visakhapatnam is called the 'City of Destiny'.
